Yesterday, we hosted our very first Meet the Magazine event, and the House came alive with color, creativity, big ideas and some of the talented people shaping the homes and gardens of the Emerald Coast.

Blueprint Magazine is at the heart of it all. We are hard at work gathering the builders, designers, artists, makers, projects and stories that will fill its pages, and we wanted our first event to feel every bit as creative as the magazine we’re building.

This new Destin home boutique is packed with beautiful lighting, furniture, accessories and all the little things that make a room feel finished. But our favorite part might be the people behind it.

Their answer when we asked what they love most about the business? The people who walk through the door. They’ve only been open a hot minute and they’re already collecting friends they plan to keep forever.

We also love that they’re putting that same energy into the community with a team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

So yes, go for the lamp. Stay for a while. And don’t blame us when you leave with something you absolutely did not go in for.

I’ve known Kelly was an artist since before either of us really knew what that meant.

Growing up, being creative was simply just part of who she was. She was always making something, seeing something the rest of us didn’t quite see yet, or finding a way to make the ordinary a little more interesting.

And somehow, that thing that was always so naturally Kelly became her life’s work.

She has built a fabulous career as an artist, and her work now hangs in homes across the country and beyond. I still get such a kick out of meeting someone who knows her work and then realizing they know my sister. It happens often enough that I’ve started to think I should get a little credit just for being related to her.

But if you really know Kelly, you know her gift goes far beyond what she puts on a canvas.

She has this incredible way with children. She sees their ideas before they know how to explain them. She makes them feel capable and creative and gives them the freedom to make a mess, try something new and be proud of what comes out of it. I think that says as much about who Kelly is as any painting ever could.

Which makes this next part especially sweet.

Kelly is creating the cover art for our very first issue of Blueprint Magazine. ☺️

I already get to live with several pieces of my sister’s art in my own home. Soon, her artwork will be sitting on coffee tables in homes throughout our community, too.

I keep thinking about that and it feels really special.

I can’t wait for everyone to see it. 🤍
